Artist's Description

The view from the newest piece of England; Samphire Hoe, Kent towards Shakespeare Cliff, Dover.

Previously there was a coal mine and samphire farming here but the area was expanded with the spoil from the Channel Tunnel and named after the native plant that was farmed here 200 years before.

Shakespeare Cliff so named after its fame was assured in the play King Lear.
