Generations of my family have loved south central Wisconsin – its landmarks, landscapes and its plants. I grew up with a love of gardening and interests in art and creativity. I try to combine love of place and plants in what I create.

I have wonderful memories of spring wildflower walks and drives with my parents to see the native flora. Although the son of a music teacher dad and English and speech teacher mom, my interests in art and creativity were always encouraged by my parents – from the little silk screening kit they gave me when I was in junior high (wow! I could print things) through increasingly complex printing and design. Eventually I also began to love photography as much as my Dad (after years of being VERY impatient while waiting for him to take pictures).

My career developed in plant science though, and I’ve spent many years studying vegetable disease control (especially potato diseases) but have continued to be very interested in graphic arts, photography and gardening.

In the last 15 years I’ve developed an extensive garden in my yard – collecting different kinds of plants, seeing if I can have something interesting to look at in the garden all year, and taking LOTS of photographs. Now retired, I hope to spend more creative time – with graphic arts and gardens.
