Artist's Description

Ink, colored pencil and archival art marker on acid free paper, 18in h x 24 in w.
Spanning the Void is an “answer” or visual reply to an earlier drawing “Sounding the Void”. “Sounding” alludes to natural phenomena as signals and to their detection and information. Spanning the Void is more about the prevalence of signals and the way they permeate and connect across all of time and space. It’s more abstraction than depiction, but there are visual elements that reference “spans” and that span and connect the space of the drawing. While Sounding the Void is more about the arrival of signals, Spanning the Void is more about what they traverse.
