Artist's Description

Acrylic with pumice and metal foil on canvas, 24 in h x 36 in w.

The Ephemeral Nature of Vision is a geometric abstract painting in acrylic with other compatible media added for contrast and surface interest. The overlapping sets of converging lines and geometric forms suggest depth and an almost escher-esque distortion of space. Each geometric layer creates an illusion of vision, contradicted by the other layers. The juxtaposition and conflict between geometric pattern and illusion of depth underscore the fragility of vision and visual processing and the ephermerality of sight and seeing.
