Artist's Description

The mill was built in about 1730 and it continued working until the end of the 19th century. By the first World War it was being used as a residence and by 1932 it was purchased by Flora Twort, a Hampshire artist, who lived there for many years. Its best known visitor was the author Nevil Shute who stayed there many times during the Second World War.
