Nightshade has bright red berries; both berries and foliage are somewhat poisonous.

• Habitat: moist thickets, open woods
• Height: 2 to 8 feet (vine)
• Flower size: 1/2 inch across
• Flower color: purple
• Flowering time: May to September
• Origin: Europe
