An Angel

For I saw the sadness in your smile
The timelessness in your eyes
The wispiness of your figure.
And though your eyes are blue
They are sometimes full of stormy clouds
Endless thunder
But I can see stars in angel eyes
Tears of bloody pain
Common like the day
Dark hair, raven black
Eyes of sapphire stone
While I hang suspended in space
I saw when I shouldn’t have
Listen when it was wrong to
And so I learn your story
A dark secret I could not understand
And I saw the sadness in your eyes
A pain I could not forget
A glimmer of time in a pain-filled face
And I made a wish upon the star
That I could touch your face
With a tender touch so gentle
That the pain would seep away
Into my own heart
But for all my love for you
I could never really understand
All the secrets that are kept
In a heart turned to stone by pain
And my tears I could not stop
And my pain I could not hide
All the tears that I held deep inside
For an angel turned to stone.
