Artist's Description

This poem has been written for ‘Times Memory’ (worst time) A creative writing challenge where we are asked to Deplict our worst memory in a form of writting.
I have written about a time when I balanced on the edge of reality, a living nightmare I hope never to experience again.
Life in the real world maybe hard at times but much better than being lost in a void of numbness, where nothing exists including yourself.

Edge of Reality

Lost in a void of misunderstanding
Limbo vast, empty, lonely
Reality slipping from grasp
Voices echo, invade the serenity
Leave me alone I found my peace
Words hammering at the door
Can’t return it’s fraught with pain
Drift deep within the mind, so calm
Is this reality?
Was the other a dream?

Lock the doors let no one in
See nothing
Feel nothing
Say nothing
Eliminate sound
Aaaggghh that echo that persists
Touch that falls so numb
Block it out!

Don’t listen to sweet words that lie
Resist the temptation of return,
Stay where peace protects
Colours swirl with comfort,
White light embraces the soul
Slipping, slipping, resistance taking its toll
Choices, choices, stay or fold
Succumbed
Returned to a world so cold.
