Artist's Description

A watercolour collage on a canvas finished with acrylics using matt medium and texture medium. Now in a private collection and available only on RB as a print.

The work was inspired by Jackie Hughes Wild Blossom

Wild Blossom
by Jaclyn Hughes

The title change is down to the inspiration of David Barrow barrowda

My interpretation or translation of this piece has lead to the exploring the clock face of the Palazzo della Fraternita dei Laici in Arezzo which I climbed in June and enjoyed a meal in the Piazza Grandi. The watercolour element is based on a door button/stud which is carvered wood about 30cm in diameter and is layered with the history of the Palazzo the overriding influence on this piece is Jackie Hughes’s “Wild Blossom” seen above.
A piece of digital art using fractals, my only knowledge of this style of art is based on Mandelbrot fractals and chaos theories, which are built around recurring sequences. This links to the clock face in my piece, and recurring sequences of time. The clock tower of the Palazzo della Fraternita dei Lacic in Arezzo is one of the few surviving clocks that uses Roman, Arabic and Lunar measurements of time. Jackie’s piece for me is a nebula exploding and through successive layers of time we can measure and calculate its origin. In nature we often compare the Fibonacci numbers, my Grandiflora relates to a magnolia which has 9 petals, this is an anomaly it does not fit into time or a numeric sequence that I know of, it is though a symbol of “perseverance” and “nobility”.
My piece is layered and through layering watercolour, layered acrylics I have tried to combine the ideas of history, composition and our attempts to measure our existence.

These are my first thoughts on my work others may come to light through debate.

Please enjoy.
