I now live in New Zealand but was born in the UK. I ran away at age 15 and joined the Merchant Navy. After six years at sea and having met my future wife Heather in NZ I emigrated and have lived here ever since.
My occupations were: various floating plant for the Auckland Harbour Board for twenty six yrs.Twenty odd years of this as skipper of the two Pilot vessels.
Then, a complete change when we bought a general store on an isolated island off the NZ coast. This was Great Barrier Island. Retired aged 60+ and living at Paihia, Bay of Islands in the far north – the so called ’ winterless north ! ’
We have since moved and now live in Warkworth, north of Auckland, New Zealand’s biggest city to be closer to family.
