When I was a young man I saw Sarah Vaughn, I think it was on the Mike Douglas Show. She sat down at the piano and played this really jazzy classical sounding piece and began to sing. The memory of that experience resonates with me even today. One afternoon I sat down and played my old Korg DW-8000. Not being a musician by any stretch of the imagination, I was pleased with how my excercise came out. I listened to it while I showered and began to sing. I jumped out of the shower in a rush, wrapped myself in a towel and still wet, recorded “One Afternoon” as the voice in my head dictated. Here is the end result. BTW I know I don’t really sound like her!
The drawing of myself at a babygrand piano, which I don’t have, is inspired by the whole experience and is being uploaded at the request of long-time friend Kerry L.One Afternoon for Sarah Vaughn

While waiting one afternoon I sat down and composed this tune. Not really knowing what to say, the words just came out this way. I really must get up and shower. I must be somewhere within the hour. La, la, la, la, la, la…
I don’t have time to wait. I mustn’t stop or hesitate. I really must be on my way. All those things out there waiting for me need to be tended to don’t you see? Please forgive me if I must go. So long now don’t you know?
