Sun and Moon

He the bright sun; She the new moon;
They have sworn their eternal devotion;
At his feet she does swoon.
Gently he kisses life into her lips so cold.
The light of their love reflects on the ocean.
Warmth, life and light course through her veins;
His welcome embrace, her cocoon.
The flame and flicker their love maintains;
Now she is full, rounded and bold.

His hot, all-consuming energy
needs a constant supply to keep burning.
The compelling gravity of his beauty
draws many a lonely planet to him.
Once caught, all other cares spurning,
they sacrifice themselves to feed his flame.
He expects it as their duty.
As the centre of the universe, he has no shame,
nor has he any concept of sin.

Her’s a cool, clear steady light.
She is strong and content in her reflection;
The gentle glow hides her might.
She needs no other to confirm who she is.
With no-one but he would she make connection,
despite the many who to her pure love aspire,
she knows and does what’s right.
Others find in her cold eyes no matching desire,
she has sworn to be only his.

His bright, hot, solar flare
melts and consumes; Its beauty entices them in.
(All who approach beware.)
He enjoys it best when she’s a fighter.
Planets, comets, meteors in they spin.
In all types, sizes and shapes they come
to burn and die there.
Many are they who feed his greedy flame;
Each helps him grow and burn brighter.

He the bright sun; She the new moon.
Of her past lives she has no memory, no notion.
At his feet she does swoon.
Gently he kisses life into her lips so cold,
and into her ear he swears eternal devotion.
Warmth, life and light course through her veins;
In his embrace she does bloom.
The flame and flicker their love maintains;
Again she is full, rounded and bold.

Thus, on through eternal night,
in his gluttony and blindness he fails to realize;
She is more than that gentle light.
He continues to consume ’til he self-destructs,
thus setting her free, opening wide her eyes.
She no longer needs that all-consuming sun.
The strength with-in her glows bright;
she feels flame and fire through her run.
Nothing now her power obstructs.

She the bright sun; He the new moon…
