Artist's Description

Built back in the days when landholders provided their own place of worship, on their own properties … !!! This beautiful Gothic chapel belongs to Iandra Castle, or Mt Oriel Homestead, … a stunning building situated near the village of Greenthorpe, not far from Young NSW. The homestead, chapel and private cemetery is a unique part of Australia’s heritage.

The castle was the home of George Henry Greene, local landowner, grazier, and politician, after whom nearby Greenethorpe is named. … graves in the cemetery include Greene himself as well as several members of his family. More recently, David Morris, who acquired Iandra about 1975 and undertook major restoration of property and homestead, died in 2002 and is also buried here.

This was taken on an outing with the FCC Western Districts members recently.

IMHO looks better large!
