Artist's Description

Your Womb…seeding thousands of suns…
incrusted little cryings into the pomegranate.
A Womb… moans of a pleasure, renounced.
Your hand….gripping brushes of organic forms.
Clutched to a basic image as dense clouds,
bringing heaviness to the ethereal loneliness.
A womb giving birth to molten lead
a miracle transformed into blood and water,
spoiled sperm in angelic breeding.
So she dreams….my Séraphine.

Lust is inconvenient …
it comes too soon…
and it lasts…
too long.

Soul without a mirror,
attending the water to reflect.
Keep it clean…without dust,
keep it cool at the brim of tears,
walking on the sleet of agonies.
Turn my face into shapes …recognizable,
where my fingers can meddle with in bliss.
A wild forest without leaves dropping,
a light that cannot reach your roarings.

Petals, opened almonds with hairy tongues.
Tiny flowers crawling inside as worms.
Eyes not giving back any smile or hatred.
Blank spaces of pearly wisdom.
Seem to reflect but they are blind.
Seem to water but they are dried.
Seem to call out , but there, is silence.
They are seeding other´s wombs,
in a fancy uncompleted though eternal.

Arrays of order, in a chaos of depictions.
Touch ripe and turgid.
Your walking fast and intended.
Where are you going….Séraphine?
Not looking behind your shoulders,
could not even feel….see…realize,
that you have not lost your mighty wings.
They are there…soaring up in Heaven,
pushing your Soul, beyond Time, Death…
and rooting the Womb into a Sea of Life.

This video-clip is a tribute to the work of the wonderful woman painter, Séraphine de Senlis. The characteristic of the images here is trying to get into the “intimacy” of her paintings, visioning a constant “close up” to the almost obsessive quality…organic, shapes, that can not even disguise an intense and “electric” Soul and a sensuality that gets to the root of her “womanhood”. She had a tremendous compulsive urge to paint what was coming to her mind and did it with a natural talent. I would not consider her as a “naïve” artist…though she may seem to be a “naïve” artist. I rather think that her “isolation” and skill had an scape valve to her intensity. Her low social status made her to work really hard to accomplish her emergency to paint, until she met a “mecenas” that was like her “guardian angel till her late days” and put her work “on the spot”. He protected her and took care even when she was interned into a metal asylum for the rest of her life. This opening the eternal debate. Are profound disturbed souls a source of artistic achievements? Was her unique art related to her presumibly “weak mental disposition”?….I´d rather think she was strong…had a real character and was a star pressed into an unfathomable “uniqueness” though extremely painful. I have used Bach´s Art of the Fugue, because her agitated painting is conveying that same characteristic of “eternal turning”. It has an internal rythm, apparently discarded, lost… but it just that, appearance. It has depth and an intense desire to bring order to her disarrayed mind. It gives calmness and respect for her extraordinary shapes, colors and spirit.
