Shallow Longings

The party is all over
and I’m walking out the door,
remembering the memories
and wishing there were more.

But what the heck now
it was all fun and good,
and I’m just a leaving
like I know that I should.

I’m walking down a road now
just me and myself alone,
thinking of all the fun I had
and kicking a lonely stone.

The noise and all the excitement
has finally let go of my head,
and now all I want to do
is to lay myself in bed.

And as I walk along the road
a tear forms in my eye,
realizing like the stone I’m kicking
I’m just an average lonely guy.
