Consequences

Consequences are neutral
Just an equals sign
The sum of before and after
infinite conclusions
often obscured by
Spontaneity’ s delight
They are neither good nor bad
That is action’s domain
The catalyst
The deed,
the one to praise or blame.
Of course there will be consequence
A recognised or not result
It can be the bloodied nose
Following a cruel insult
It can be first prize or last place
Depending on who judges
A jury faced
A sentence made
By a row of words together
The interpretations’ view
How you treat me,
how I treat you
Are consequences of our interaction
We are the boat, they are the sail
Dependent on wind and skill
In reaching our destination
No need to damn or fear them
It is what we do and how we respond to them
If we learn to use them
And make right the outcome.
