Untitled

Heavy summer rain
Quashes the birdsong
Excepting a hardy pigeon
Whose solitary coo
Is defiant
Inhibiting downpour
Some carefree plans done for
Then a temporary ceasefire
The peanut feeders on fire
Well a bird has got to get it when she can
And how she sings
As she ruffles her wings
Preparing for the next shower.
