Artist's Description

Fatehpur Sikri is a magnificent fortified ghost city. Its hey day was between 1570-1585. This city is part of the day trip when visiting the Taj Mahal. Although brilliant from an architectural point of view the city was erected in an area that suffered from water shortages (hmm a bit like adelaide) – abandoned upon Akbar’s death – the ruler at the time. It is said he had 5,000 wives!

A set of perspectives on Fatehpur Sikri – the buildings of this city provided many aspects to explore with multiple spaces connected through doorways, windows, and courtyards.

I was giving some thought to this photo when i noticed that Peter Hill had also a very similar photo taken just about the same place well before me – so not only is the building some 430 years old but two redbubblers stood in the same place 1984-2004

Peter Hill’s amazing photo of the same Elephant Stables. Go look!
