Autumn is my favorite time of year. The heat of Summer has faded away and the snow hasn’t yet come. We don’t have many deciduous trees in our area so our Fall colors are limited to the larch trees, whose needles turn reddish brown. The one sign we get that Autumn has finally arrived is when the acorns drop from the oak trees in Kalispell, coating the ground. This is a golden memory for me…walking down the acorn strewn sidewalks with my kids and feeling the crispness of the air. I always associate these things with hope. For some reason, my spirit soars at this time of year.

Made in UltraFractal 5, from a Julia formula. The original parameter was provided by autumngirl for the Fall With a Fury challenge hosted by The Ultimate UF5 and Beyond group. We were challenged to tweak these parameters, without changing the gradient, to come up with our own creation.

I used the original formula, unchanged, to make this. I just zoomed in on the spiral, and added a couple layers to the background image. I changed the coloring to the Sierpinski Trap. I made the acorns using the standard trap formula and added the texture layer using the pixel formula.

I added some leaves for texture, using the Redfield UMatrix plugin, and my signature in Photoshop CS.
