Artist's Description

This recently produced piece was created with india ink and acrylic paints. I first used a sable brush and india ink to paint the form outline (no initial sketch was used), allowing for a delicate, permanent line quality to start from. Then I used acrylic paints and glosses to paint in the work, shading some areas (with layering), and letting other areas retain a simplified and loose painterly brushstroke property. The female figure is represented from different perspectives conveying an overall more “seductive” feeling within the painting. Her hands encompassing her face, and her one eye draws in a great amount of focus. Her torso and lower regions compliment and balance the entire composition, which creates a continual visual flow, and initiates an intriguing “intercourse” between the viewer and the work. I was overwhelmed after painting it (tired and satisfied at the same time). I felt as if I had been “seduced”. The original dimensions of the piece are 15in. X 11in. it was painted in 2008.
