Artist's Description

Painted in oils with exaggerations as to the colors and tones of the still-life. The main subjects are a Rocky Mountain sheep’s skull, a pronghorn’s skull, and a bull’s skull, set around other less dominant western items (a woven basket and old lantern). The lighting is important in this painting as the background is more glazed over and diffused in color, and the foreground is more detailed and has greater highlighted areas, showing a great amount of depth within the compacted and closely arranged still-life.
