Artist's Description

Original RoadTrooper Route des Grandes Alpes D902 Col du Mont Cenis design.

The Route des Grandes Alpes originally constructed in 1909 is a legendary 684 kilometre alpine tourist route starting on the shores of Lake Geneva (Lac Léman) at Thonon-les-Bains that heads south through the French Alps finishing in the Nice/Menton area of the French Riviera. On paved roads, it crosses 16 Alpine passes, many made famous in the Tour de France but is almost a right of passage for many adventure touring motorcyclists as well as classic car clubs and rally’s. The road roughly follows the D902 route, however there are many variations to the official route for those looking for adventure or suffering from wanderlust.

The official cols (passes) along the route heading south include Col des Gets, Col de la Colombière, Col des Aravis, Col de Meraillet, Cormet de Roselend, Col de l’Iseran, Col du Télégraphe, Col du Galibier, Col du Lautaret, Col d’Izoard, Col de Platrière, Col de Vars, Col de la Cayolle, Col de Couillole, Col St. Martin, Col de Turini

Optional route cols include Col de Joux Plane, Col de la Joux Verte, Col de Romme, Col des Saisies, Col de la Croix Fry, Signal de Bisanne (TdF 2016), Col du Joly, Col du Pré, Col du Mont Cenis, Col de l’Echelle, Col de Montgenèvre, Col de la Madeleine, Col du Granon, Col de la Croix de Fer, Col du Glandon, Col Agnel, Col de Larche (Colle della Maddalena), Col d’Allos, Col Des Champs, Colle Della Lombarda, Cime de la Bonette, Gorges de Daluis, Gorges du Cians

Here’s a video of one of my rides over this incredible alpine pass.
