Starting a journal...Mentoring

I’ve had inquiries by art students, fans, collectors, etc. to start a “blog”. I’ve been asked for my bio, etc, for art school assignments, nursing school assignments, etc., so I’m putting some thoughts and philosophies down for anyone who is interested. I may be the only one reading this, but if so, then I’ll benefit by consolidating my theories in one place. Here goes: My first topic is regarding mentoring. As I teach, I pass on what I learn in more ways than one. I not only teach art theories, techniques, art history, etc., but I teach about what I’ve learned in art marketing, sales, research, etc. One person helping another can save them many steps and much time! It is so satisfying to see someone experience success and to know that you had a part in it! However, I find that as I teach, I learn also. I must put into words what I’ve learned, therefore “gelling” it in my mind and reinforcing it so I won’t forget it! Sound impossible? We’re human and we, too, can forget lessons learned and must repeat them time and time again! (Note in the Bible the Israelites and their many lessons that they had to repeat…) So, find at least one person with whom you can share your discoveries, mistakes, and triumphs…you will benefit even more than they!
