we were startled

we were startled of the fog ofthe wind . we listenedto the oars and rowed,

listening, rowing , and

in the beingso near we could almost see

, and we felt sure our hearts

grew fainter and we were alone again with the

wind and fog. we heard the ocean

we thoughttoo far away to hear. It waswater, shelter and companionshipand we were perishing, so

near unconscious and in too great a hurry

. I have thought of this since, as I have

wondered what might come
.

we were startled
