Artist's Description

An awesome abandoned castle in Belgium. Derelict since an arson attack in 1991, having closed its doors 11 years earlier.

Designed by British architect Milner as a “summer house” for the Liedekerke-Beaufort family, it finally became home to children of Belgian railwaymen after the Second World War.

It was also briefly occupied by the Nazis during the conflict.

Inside it is in a terrible state. The family are reluctant to hand it over to the municipality. Instead, they would seemingly rather it fall into a serious state of disrepair.

Such a shame.

Sold as a photographic print – Dec 2011. Thank you!

Canon 60D, Sigma 10-20mm.
