Artist's Description

A few years back I was staying in Edinburgh at the old youth hostel (now closed), and each day I went out past this street with a very distinctive church looking like a rocket about to blast off. On my return in the winter twilight I took a photo, and from that I’ve now created this pastel picture on an A1 sheet of black card.
Here is a little poetry I’ve penned to give you the feeling of the moment this represents:
-————————————————————
Skeleton trees and chimney tops
demark the evening sky
A flock of birds head home for roost
as cars go speeding by
Twilight lingers like my breath,
dissolving on the night
The lamps switch on to guide me home
with pink then golden light
The cold creeps up from river banks
filtered through the streets
the chill of night and all is quiet
huddled from the sleet
Another day so quickly lost
as night’s domain takes hold
Time for me to scurry home
before my toes get cold
-——————————————-
I hope at some point to bring together a book of my art and poetry, so please let me know if you like the verse.
