Artist's Description

This is actually a view from Kyleakin on Skye. Its an old ruin you can walk to at low tide (or with a bit more difficulty at high tide). Caisteal Maol is believed to be 15th century, built to extract tolls from ships passing through the narrow straight it guards.
Standing proud on its hillock its a great viewpoint rivalling the nearby Skye bridge for the handful of visitors that wander over each day. However pick the wrong time and the midges come to join you for lunch. From my experience I now think of this as the midges home, from where they go out scavenging across the Highlands.
Original oil painting on board 16 inches by 20 inches.
