Artist's Description

I was staying on Harris and took the opportunity of a day trip across the sound to North Uist to climb the nearest hill (see my Sound of Harris work). With time to spare before the ferry back I ventured to the nearby beach of Traigh Lingeigh, and found it deserted. The place seemed timeless, as though I was the first human there witnessing an ancient landscape, where footstep are soon gone and all that remains are memories. Here is a little poem I wrote about the place…
-——————————————-
Echoes of a Viking past
washed away by tide,
blasted by a restless wind
as grasses fence nearby.

A glimpse of sun, through racing clouds
a fleeting hint of warmth.
My footprints gone, soon after me
from timeless Uist shore.
-——————————————-
Original painting is oil on board 30 inches by 20 inches
