I paint British landscapes and close ups of nature. Working in oil I aim to capture the feeling of the place through the quality, colour...

And then the people appeared

Having spent twenty odd years painting pictures devoid of people or with them very small, my Flatford to Dedham (or was it Dedham to Flatford?) picture is the first time I’ve tried doing people as anything more than a distant splodge. Having succeed (I think) there my next work in progress has someone standing a full four inches high! But boy is it hard to get faces anywhere near right. Well the face and the figure are now done, so now onto the more familiar theme of the landscape around. I won’t tell any more for now – if I’m happy with the result you’ll see it here in a few week’s time.
