Artist's Description

The “Alien Squiggles” series from 2005 was an attempt to rectify what I then perceived to be a lack of depth in my ArtMatic renders. To fix this problem, I combined two different sets of renders that I thought would complement each other.

All these years later, I consider the series to be an interesting experiment and learning experience, if not a completely successful one. I think the sense of depth was achieved, but these images veer closer to “bad Photoshop from the ‘90’s” than I’m completely comfortable with. (If you don’t get that reference, just know that a lot of artists took a very ham-fisted approach to Photoshop when they first got there hands on it. A lot of them seemed to think that they could be the next Warhol with this new tool, including Warhol himself, whose computer experiments [albeit with an Amiga in the ‘80’s, not Photoshop in the ‘90’s] were recently uncovered on old floppy disks
