Artist's Description

I took this photo while looking down from a scenic pull-off spot onto the port where cruise ships dock so that tourists may spend the day taking the train ride up White Pass, taking a guided tour of Skagway led by entertaining young women in Gold Rush period dress driving old fashioned cars, or just strolling along downtown Skagway and checking out the stores (many of which are jewelry stores) and restaurants. Skagway’s main source of income is tourism, and since the official tourist season doesn’t begin until a month of so after I was there, the port only has two ships docked. The larger boat in the background is from another cruise line. The boat that I was travelling on is the closer one that’s partially obscured by the tree.
