Artist's Description

At the risk of being boring, I’d like to give a little background information about the group of photos that I’ll be uploading over the next few days… The following group of photos were taken in Alaska this past May. An Alaskan cruise has always been my dream vacation. and not only was I actually taking it, I was taking it on an authentic paddleboat that was so much smaller and more easily to maneuver while cruising Alaska’s Inside Passage. We would be able to cruise much closer to the shore than the larger cruise ships, which meant better wildlife photo opportunities. The cruise was heavenly and I was just ecstatic about being on that boat…for about a day and a half, when we met with a bit more adventure and excitement than we had bargained for…we ran aground at 1:10 AM Monday, May 14th. Some of you may remember the ship that ran aground in Alaska last May, but I’m sure that many of you do not. As scary as the experience was, I’m happy to report that there no injuries, we all were rescued without incident, and the cruise line was very accomodating to us. One more thing – my mother and I are going back next Spring, but in June this time, It was still a bit cold in May there :-).

I took this photo as we were pulling away from the dock in Juneau.
