Artist's Description

A badge of the House of Lancaster during the fifteenth century Wars of the Roses, the red rose was later combined with the white to form the Tudor Rose, which remains the floral heraldic emblem of England. Original drawing by Richard H. Fay based on various medieval-period heraldic roses drawn using artist’s pens on Bristol board and then scanned and coloured digitally.
