CHEMODRAGONS

I drew these dragon while on chemo for my Breast Cancer. Aside from needing a hip replacement, the chemo made me so sick that I had to lie down most of the day. I found that my son’s bedroom was the perfect spot. He was away at college and it gave me solace to feel somehow close to him.

As an artist, I could not help but be inspired by the dragons that were hanging on the ceiling as well as all over his book shelves. My husband told him as a child that they were there to protect him from harm and guide him fiercefully through the hard life ahead. To me, they stand as a symbol of rebirth and growth because they have to shed their skin to grow and move on.

I had to teach myself to draw on an ipad as this was the only way I could heal myself and it was the only tool I could work with lying down. I hope these current pieces help you through whatever stands in your way to a peaceful tomorrow.

PS. If you wish my work on an item that I did not include, please email me at reynolds@momsformuseums.com
