Artist's Description

Canon 5DII + 16-35 mm f/2.8 L II. Reworking of three RAW captures in LR4 and Photomatix. Much better BIGGER.

Gursky’s Rhine II was definitely in my mind when I composed this. Even at my outrageous rates (mine can be purchased at approximately 0.0000125 of the price Gursky’s work commanded), I think you get much better value for money.

Technically, the title is a misnomer. The Camargue salt pans are not watered by the Rhône, which flows into the Mediterranean a couple of hundred metres behind where I was standing.

This is a reworking of a previous attempt. Here I corrected for the yellow cast, in part as a nose-thumbing tribute to the Gursky work (I haven’t cloned anything out, however), but mostly to ‘purify’ the colour of light. Below is the previous attempt. You be the judge.
