Dirty Pretty Things

Dirty Pretty Things a poem by RestLeSsD

It’s me again, I’m back,
Though I never really left.
You can’t be rid of me so easily.
Not after your petty theft.

You played your part convincingly,
The faithful, loyal friend.
Little did you realize
It would come to a bitter end.

Your acting was superb
You almost had me fooled.
My heart became entangled
I’m so glad my head overruled.

As they say, almost only counts
In hand grenades and nuclear bombs.
It’s time to end this here and now
I’ll let you go without feeling any qualms.

So now I’ll pull the trigger
Feeling the pleasure that it brings.
Knowing that I tricked you
With my dirty, pretty things…
