UPress California Deathers Arkaik have in a few days ago with Arkaik. How about it? How Your new album, Metamorphignition was a result.
Hello Metal News, We are doing great! As for our new album, we have this in February added to the Castle Ultimate Studios in Oakland, California. After that we sat down with Tony Koehl and discussed the ideas for the artwork as well as with Unique Leader Records discussed everything else and prepared for publication.

As the songwriting goes with you? Writes your songs mainly during rehearsals?
We have a fairly balanced band dynamics. We all control our part in stopping the songwriting progresses. However, we have no set way of working, it’s more like a kind of snowball effect between the riffs and song structures. Everyone brings itself but in its own way into the songs, working on them and incorporates ideas. We rehearse before the tour for a week or two, as we are due to physical distance cannot meet on a weekly or monthly basis. So we tinker together a setlist for the tour and make sure that we are all familiar with the material before we met are, then we rehearse and get everything up and running.

In what ways you can detect differences to its predecessor, “Reflections Within Dissonance”? Are you – apart from the fact that you have a new bass player in your ranks – something deliberately approached differently?

Well, actually quite a lot. We have. Ivan Munguia with not only a new bass on this album, but there are with Alex Bent also a new drummer Both newcomers have helped make the album into what it is. “Reflections …” was our first proper release on a label, it was a bit older as well as brand new, containing only just finished material.
Metamorphignition is a concept album, and the lyrics were all ready written, before there were any music. This was definitely a different approach than on the previous album. We have written to the music based on what happened in the story. As for songwriting, so Ivan has contributed some guitar riffs, and he has a pretty unique style. This has contributed to the variety of the riffs on the album.

Then we move closer look at the concept of Metamorphignition field. How did this come about?
The story takes place in an oppressed civilization and describes the astral journey of one man in the spiritual worlds beyond its normal physical world by means of a near-death experience. The protagonist of the story, which is called the “Cyrix” committed suicide by burning himself alive while leaving the body.
The rest of the story is told from his perspective, as he travels through atmospheres of chaos, of happiness and understanding. He encounters a series of characters that represent the dualistic human experience and is run by two females by the yin and yang of the universe. He overcomes the dark side of the human soul, the fear, the ego, the war and the conflict in order to eventually become one with the Infinite Source of Universal Intelligence, which in turn leads to an understanding of the unity of all creation.
How are the three chapters Tapasiatic Exodus Sirens In Electric Veils and Paths of Recognition in this together?
They are all connected to each other – through history and through the shims and transitions that make the songs blend into each other. Each chapter is a further step the experiences of Cyrix on the journey that he walks through because of his near-death experience.
Tony Koehl was told as responsible for the artwork and layout of the CD: How did you get this procedure?
We are very satisfied with the result. When we discussed our ideas with such artists as Tony, it was really exciting to see how all his creativity takes shape. We gave him a rough draft of the lyrics and we met twice to discuss together our concept and ideas for the layout.
On the back of the CD inlay, the statement We recommend using headphones to get the full stereophonic experience can be found. This may seem at first glance a bit unusual for a death metal band?
We don’t want to be in any way somehow ordinary. Our goal is to create experiences that people can enjoy. Join us generic labels or any drawers are not really matter. We have created a complete listening experience, which you should devote most extensively. Some subtleties can then best heard with headphones. So we thought: Hey, why do not we just bring the people on this idea, and after a little help?
In addition, some Internet links are listed. How important is it to you that people want to learn more, or are ready, ie beyond the music?
We give people the option to look at the information we find fascinating, because we like to pass that on, what we care about. We also believe that the people who take the time to listen to challenging and intricate music could probably be to have this to put up with challenging and tricky issues apart.
Speaking: What is the way the ten-minute The Omnipus originate? Was this planned from the beginning as a mini-epic or has this result just like that? Which song on the album you like actually the most?
The result has everything pretty simple and did not need much longer than the other tracks on the album. And yes, it was actually created as a very epic song of the disc, appearing in the various metal styles. We wanted to keep it in terms of style is highly variable. Hm, what concerns a favorite song, so we have created the album rather than one long song, so you could see the entire disc as our favorite song.
What about the tour plans of with you – with respect, especially in Europe?
We want as much as possible and be on the road playing concerts, and Europe is an area where you want to be represented as quickly as possible.
How is it that so many bands – just like your – come from California, and technical and brutal Death Metal, eg INHERIT DISEASE, or CONDEMNED THE FACELESS? What do you mean?
The sun in California seems to be the raw material for the creation of dreams to be, maybe it’s just this energy.
Bonus question: If you were to make a film of the music of Arkaik what film or what genre would that be?
It would be a surreal, psychedelic sci-fi thriller with a lot of esoteric symbolism between the lines. As a director, there probably would be the dream team of Stanley Kubrick / David Lynch / Gaspar Noe are suitable.
Thank you for the interview!
