Nature at dawn

One fine dawn as I looked through my study

I saw nature unfold its beauty in no hurry

The clouds stood still as the sun rose through winter’s chill

Proclaiming its glory to all and sundry.

I heard birds chirping in my garden

A neighbour’s cock crowing to say it’s dawning

The trees stood still on my easement hill

As I gazed aimlessly while yawning

I watched the birds fly to and fro

Some of them picking on the earthly floor

The faint sound of cars passing by

Reminded me that people do try

To wake up early as dawn is nigh

My thoughts travel far and wide

Wondering what people decide

When dawn is breaking do some still hide

Curled up in blankets or gazing outside

As nature unfolds its glory with pride

Nature at dawn
