Artist's Description

I don’t see any where near as many Dragonflies now compared to how many I used to see when I was a kid. I suppose it’s mainly due to the fact that I don’t spend as much time outdoors now, so there’s a lot less chance of spotting them. I’d never seen a bright red one like this before, so it was awesome when I noticed it land right on the plant I was just getting ready to photograph. It didn’t stay there for very long so I had to work quickly to get some shots before it disappeared.

Newcastle, Australia.

The shot was taken using a Canon 450D and a standard Canon 55 – 250 mm lens set to full zoom. I added my own custom photographed textures in Photoshop Elements 7 to add some visual interest to the shot.
