Artist's Description

A wave generated by a large storm cell blanketing hundreds of kilometres of coastline crashes onto the break wall at Nobby’s in Newcastle, New South Wales. This surf spot is called " The Harbour " because the waves actually break on a reef inside the head of Newcastle Harbour, which is at the end of the Hunter River. It can handle waves up to about 12 feet and is best surfed on a high to mid-tide with a Southerly wind which makes the wave face smooth and glassy.

Image taken using a 6 MP Sony Cyber-Shot.
