Artist's Description

Where: Bedfordshire
What: Poppy Field
When: June 2015
With What: Canon M2, Hasselblad 50mm f4 C Lens
At what: 50mm, 60th, F16, 100 ISO

The sun was going down the sky was becoming warmer and I was trying to find a good vantage point and parking place for this Poppy field I found.

So I spent the next 30 minutes hunting for a higher vantage point by way of a National Trust Car Park. As it was now 8pm the car park was empty bar one car and the opposite end to where I’d came in.

I unloaded the car and let the dog out of the back and headed off down the steep hill for my field of red. It was at this point I realised that my “Vantage point” was maybe a tad further away than what I had predicted hampered slightly with a large empty field in front of me.

While I stood and surveyed the scene and my route to the field I could hear further cars entering into the car park. I was surprised that people were venturing out that late and then considered it must be other photographers so carried on my way to the field and this scene.

My journey back was a lot harder due to the large now seemingly steeper hill and lots of sheep now all settling down for the evening. I stupidly did not bring my dogs lead so I couldn’t enter the field of sheep. I took a detour around the field and got back to the now relatively full and ‘active’ car park.

OMG!

I instantly regretted parking in such a remote location and so far away from the exit as I quickly discovered this car park was the local amorous parking spot. Oddly as I swiftly made way to my car I felt like the Royal family when the travel up the River Thames and the Tower Bridge opens up slowly to let their boat pass. In front of me a sea of open tops cars with red faced flustered couples frantically attempting to close their soft top roofs, all of this happening in slow motion too slow for my or their liking.

In future I think I will park closer to the scenes I see and avoid all remote car parks.

I hope you like it.

Put into Photoshop cropped merged 3 shots to make it square and a signature shoved on it.
