Artist's Description

pencil drawing on 9″×11″ sketchbook paper colored on computer…..The Emperor sits on his throne, holding a scepter, accompanied by the heraldic Eagle of the Holy Roman Empire. This is usually on his shield though the heraldic eagle is sometimes a free-standing statue or live bird. He symbolizes the top of the secular hierarchy, the ultimate male ego. The Emperor is the absolute ruler of the world. two rams on each sides of his throne represent Aries. I added the roses under his feet as a symbol of power out of control. The sceptor he is holding has a golden pomegranate on the tip to match the Tarot Empress that I am drawing and help connect the two drawings. Also, the majority of the stars behind the Emperor are dark red bleeding into a scattering of a few yellow stars. On the Empress it is the opposite. The Emperor is contemplating the globe which he aspires to control. I drew the Emporer and the Empress so that they would be facing each other and also tried to make sure that they had some elements in common. I’ll post the Empress in a few days.
