Artist's Description

The Abbey, Milton Abbas, Dorset

Number of views as of 12th April 2018 = 860.

The ‘model’ village of Milton Abbas was created at the instigation of Joseph Damer, Earl of Dorchester at the end of the 18th century. The old village apparently ‘spoilt his view’, so he had it razed to the ground and rebuilt in a wooded valley about a mile away. The Abbey dates from the 14th century and is Gothic in style. It was restored in the 19th century.

Date: 23rd October 2007.
