Church Green, Witney

Number of views as of 13th December 2017 = 470.

Elegant Cotswold stone houses and trees line both sides of Church Green, in the town of Witney, Oxfordshire, England.

The Norman church of St Mary the Virgin stands at the southern end of the green looking towards the town centre. This shot faces west.

Witney is an attractive market town close to the River Windrush, approximately 12 miles west of Oxford. It was once famous for the production of high-quality blankets, which were very popular with native Americans who traded beaver skins for them.

Witney is the parliamentary seat of current Conservative party leader David Cameron, so the town is sure to feature in the news over the next few weeks in the run-up to the UK general election.
