The parish church of St Mary in the small Cotswold town of Fairford, South Gloucestershire, England.
There has been a church at Fairford since at least 1125, but little of this early building now remains, a few fragments of it being incorporated into the magnificent Late Perpendicular church that can be seen today (left).
St Mary’s is one of several so-called ‘wool churches’ in the Cotswolds, built from the proceeds acquired from the successful wool and cloth industries of mediaeval times.
The church was consecrated in June 1497 and is said to house the most complete set of mediaeval stained and painted glass windows in the country.
