Artist's Description

7822 Foxcote Manor

An ex Great Western Railway 4-6-0 Manor Class locomotive, number 7822 ‘Foxcote Manor’ runs around its rake of coaches to head up the 12:15 service from Bishops Lydeard to Minehead on the West Somerset Railway, the UK’s longest heritage railway route.

The locomotive was built in the Great Western Railway’s Swindon works in 1950. After being withdrawn from service in 1965, it was rescued from Woodham Brothers scrapyard in Barry, South Wales in 1974 and subsequently restored to its former glory.

Foxcote Manor is currently resplendent in all black British Railways livery.
