Artist's Description

St Andrew’s Church, East Lulworth

The Parish Church of St Andrew’s, in the Isle of Purbeck village of East Lulworth (Dorset, England) dates from the 15th century, but whilst the Tower is original, much of the church was rebuilt in the 1860s.

The Church adjoins Castle Park, part of the Lulworth (or Weld) Estate, which also features a 17th century castle (partly destroyed by fire in 1929) and a Roman Catholic chapel, built in 1786.

Part of the Lulworth Estate is a Ministry of Defence firing range and a wildlife conversation area.

Unlike its neighbour West Lulworth, the pace of life in East Lulworth seems more relaxed and tranquil (except when the military are firing of course).

Date: 7th May 2017.
