Dancing Ledge

Number of views as of 23rd February 2016 = 500.

Dancing Ledge, the site of an old cliff quarry, forms part of the Jurassic Coast on the Isle of Purbeck in Dorset, England. The ‘Ledge’ is a flat area of rock at the base of a small cliff mid-way between Durlston Head (not far from Swanage) and St Aldhem’s Head (near Worth Matravers).

Stone removed from the quarry was transported by boat direct from Dancing Ledge, along the south coast to Kent in order to construct Ramsgate harbour.

The cliffs above the ledge are a popular location for climbers.

Date: 7th September 2008.
