Hydrangea

Number of views as of 8th March 2018 = 390.

Hydrangea is a genus of over 70 species of flowering plants native to southern and eastern Asia (from Japan to China, the Himalayas and Indonesia) and North and South America. Hydrangeas are common throughout Europe, particularly on the Portugese island of Faial, which is known as “The Blue Island” due to the vast numbers of hydrangeas growing there. The plants can be either deciduous or evergreen, though the widely cultivated temperate species are all deciduous.

This specimen was pictured at Kippford, Dumfries & Galloway, Scotland.
