Old Harry Rocks!

Number of views as of 24th January 2018 = 960.

These chalk stacks are situated on the Dorset coast between Studland and Swanage at the Eastern end of the great land mass of Ballard Down and facing across to the Isle of Wight. They mark the eastern end of the “Jurassic Coast” World Heritage Site, which covers 95 miles of coast line from here in Dorset to East Devon, with rocks recording 185 million years of the Earth’s history. Old Harry himself is not visible in this shot, hidden behind these larger stacks, along with the remains of his wife, felled by the ongoing erosion of the sea in 1896.

This shot was featured in the Dorset, England group.

Date: 18th May 2008.
